what is dns?
DNS is the methodology and system which maps "human-readable" domain names to their associated IP address. E.g. www.imalgam.net currently maps (or "resolves") to 65.19.129.194. The system allows users to find network information without needing the IP address, and allows providers to configure and physically locate their services with little or no disruption to the end user.
infraserver support
DNS server functionality is an available feature of the InfraServer. Managing your domain's DNS directly may be beneficial if your alternative is to rely on your ISP and the lag time for making DNS changes is an issue. Also, some ISP's incrementally charge for the number of DNS entries they will manage for you.
